Hello Trail Enthusiasts! We are already starting to groom the Thousand Hills Trail along Forest Lake’s south shore for October’s FLATS Trail Half Marathon. Volunteers will meet at the Marina in 1000 Hills State Park at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 23rd and pontoons will take them to the sections of the trail we’ll be working on.
Bring your own tools and any you have to lend (weedeaters, loppers, hand held saws, lawnmowers, chainsaws) and please RSVP to race director Ivy Koger by emailing ivy[at]ivyfixesbikes.com or posting on the FLATS Trail Half Marathon FaceBook page, so he can plan the morning’s attack.
And please spread the word to any good-doers that you know!
p.s. The Thousand Hills Trail is the 10+ mile unpaved single-track trail that extends from Rainbow Basin to the loop at Thousand Hills State Park. This trail is separate from the paved trail FLATS is building and will remain unpaved, but will be connect to and be part of the larger Forest Lake Area Trail System. If you haven’t hiked or biked or run this trail, it’s worth checking out!
